Halyna Hutchins, who starred as Valerie in FX’s new series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, was shot and killed on Friday afternoon while working on a movie set.
Today, actor Alec Baldwin released a statement of sympathy to Hutchins’s family.
“I am beyond shocked and heartbroken over the news of Halyna Hutchins’s passing,” he said. “She was a beautiful and kind soul, and the bright light she radiated will be missed by so many. Halyna’s family and friends and the entire Rhoda … family send their condolences to that family, and to you, her longtime friend. We will all miss you, friend.”
According to Deadline, executives for the series stopped work on the series on Friday in response to news of the incident.
Hutchins, a resident of Antioch, California, was a seasoned actor, best known for her role in the FX film Brother’s Keeper. A friend of rapper Vic Mensa, she appeared on the actor’s series Barbershop: The Next Cut, and he tweeted his condolences about the loss of her life.

Hutchins also appeared in the short-lived CW series The Beautiful Life, playing a character by the name of Yately Thomas.
